Before the official visit of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoev to the Arab Republic of Egypt in February 20-21, Uzbekistan-Egypt business forum was held. Within the delegation of the government of Uzbekistan, delegates of the “Uzcharmsanoat” association had a series of negotiations with the leather and footwear companies and investors of this country.

During the visit, a meeting was held between the “Uzcharmsanoat” Association and the Egyptian company “Al-Rowad”. In the dialogue, detailed information was provided about the production potential of the leather industry of our country in recent years, the investment environment, export opportunities and the raw material base. Additionally, a presentation was given on the customs, tax benefits, transport and logistics directions provided to foreign investors investing in the industry.

For information, the “Al-Rowad” company was established in 1920 in Cairo, Egypt. For more than 95 years and four generations, the enterprise has been producing quality leather products from buffalo skin. The company offers high quality, reliable products and innovation. The annual sales volume of the company is 4 million dollars.

It should be noted that today two countries have an equal position among the leather processing countries. Egypt exports 80% of the volume of leather products of the Arab Republic to the whole world, including Italy, Spain, Turkey, China, India, Vietnam and a number of other countries.

With the result of the negotiations with the Egyptian company “BN Shaker”, the issue of implementing a joint project, which is mutually invested, for the production of seasonal shoes was discussed. Proposals for exporting manufactured products to the market of African countries were studied.

All measures will be taken with the embassy of the Republic of Uzbekistan in the Arab Republic of Egypt and foreign partners in order to timely and fully ensure the implementation of each agreement.

During the B2B dialogues within the framework of the business forum in Egypt, the first agreements were reached on the implementation of 2 investment projects worth a total of $ 15 million for the production of leather products in our country. In order to start these projects on time, it was achieved to sign memorandums of understanding with “Al-Rowad” (10 million. doll.) and “BN Shaker "(5 million. doll.).

Furthermore, negotiations were held on the supply of leather products with a total cost of $ 3.2 million produced in Uzbekistan to the companies Al-Rowad, ARC Shoes, Piel Color, Zanoon Tannery, Naser Hussien Tannery and Hawk Tannery.

Egypt, which serves as the largest trade market and economic bridge among the African countries, is interested in establishing beneficial relations with Uzbekistan in the leather-footwear and fur industry, as well as developing joint projects.
