Uzbekistan–Pakistan: A New Phase of Cooperation in the Leather Industry

A delegation of leading representatives of Pakistan’s leather industry paid an official visit to Uzbekistan. This business mission is expected to mark a new phase in the trade and economic relations between the two countries. The focus was on launching joint projects in the leather and footwear sector, establishing manufacturing enterprises in Uzbekistan, and organizing the export of finished products.

The meetings were attended by representatives of the Uzcharmsanoat Association, the Chamber of Commerce and Industry, local leather and footwear producers, as well as prominent Pakistani companies and industry associations.

During the visit, Pakistani companies became acquainted with Uzbekistan’s industrial infrastructure, particularly the potential of small industrial zones (SIZs). Delegates received practical information about available production capacities, land plots, and tax incentives in Tashkent and the regions.

Companies such as “Cosmopolitan Enterprises,” “Madina Oasis,” “J&S Timeless Leather,” “STA Leather Products,” and others expressed strong interest in establishing joint production with Uzbek partners. Specifically, there are plans to implement a franchising model, allowing Pakistani brands to be produced in Uzbekistan and exported to international markets.

Several companies indicated their intention to invest in industrial zones and initiate new production facilities. They positively noted the investment-friendly environment of Uzbekistan, including customs and tax benefits, infrastructure support, and recent reforms in the certification system.

Uzbekistan’s strategic location and logistics infrastructure have generated strong interest from the Pakistani side. The delegation analyzed practical export opportunities to markets in Europe, Turkey, Russia, Central Asia, and China.

The visit of the Pakistani delegation reflects a shift in bilateral economic cooperation from dialogue to implementation. Beyond political diplomacy, it represents real industrial collaboration, capacity building, and strategic partnership.

As a result of the meetings, several companies began shaping initial agreements to launch joint manufacturing and export-oriented projects in Uzbekistan.
